Kintsugi
The ancient Japanese art of taking pottery that is broken, or fractured, and using gold or silver to repair it and in turn make it better than the original piece. This technique is also the inspiration behind Alec Bradley Cigar Company’s newest line. Viewing the current cigar industry as being slightly fractured due to a uncoordinated fight against constantly increasing regulations, the company felt that utilizing the passion for premium cigar making as the gold lacquer that it can bind the industry together and rebuild it back to better than it ever was. Alec & Bradley Rubin hope that using Kintsugi as the name of their newest creation that, “we spread the story and spirit through our cigars- colleagues and enthusiasts may one day embrace the tradition and come together for a common cause.”
Created at the Raices Cubanas factory in Danlí, Honduras, Alec & Bradley Kintsugi uses a Trojes region, Honduran habano wrapper over a combination of Nicaraguan and Honduran leaves that make up the dual binder and filler. The resulting profile is a medium-bodied experience filled with notes of earth, wood, chocolate, nuts, and pepper that delight the senses and delight the palate from start to finish.
